Anupam Kher, a seasoned Bollywood actor At the 56th International Film Festival of India in Goa on Sunday, she took part in a session titled “Giving up is not an option.” He inspired the audience during the conversation by sharing particular instances from his life and work, demonstrating how he used obstacles as opportunities.
One such story concerned his response to the compensation he received following the popularity of his sports comedy Bend It Like Beckham in 2002. Even though the movie was a commercial success, Anupam refused to accept producer Deepak Nayyar’s offer to work with him again for the same amount. Anupam described the event as follows: “I shot Bend It Like Beckham for ₹5,000.” The film’s producer intended to make another movie. He asked me how much money I wanted for the role when he came to see me at a hotel café. He promised to pay me the same as I did for the prior position. “Why will you give me only this much money when I have earned ₹100 million from this film?” I asked him.
Anupam chose to use a rather dramatic approach to make a point when the producer appeared hesitant. At ten in the morning, the cafe was packed. “Hello, friends,” I yelled as soon as I stood at the table. Deepak Nayar is this man.For Bend It Like Beckham, he gave me £5,000, but he now refuses to give me the entire sum for another movie.””He asked me to sit, but I kept saying, Paise deraha hai ki nahi? (Will you give the money I ask for?)” he continued. He nodded and motioned for me to take a seat, and I did. Because it is not an option to give up.
