Kannada film ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1‘ has finally released its Hindi version on Prime Video after a wait of 57 days, following theatrical success. The prequel, which breaks with the Kadamba tradition, explores the hero Permi’s battle to protect the forest gods and their traditions, deepening the world of ‘Kantara’ for a wider audience.
Kannada cinema’s biggest mythological film, ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’, has received huge response across the country since the day of its release. The prequel, which was released in theaters on October 2, began streaming on OTT in several languages from October 31, after a four-week screening period.
Although it was immediately released in languages like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, only the Hindi version, which was much awaited by fans, was delayed. Finally, after 57 days, fans’ high expectations were fulfilled when the official announcement came that the Hindi version would start streaming on Prime Video from November 27.
Delayed digital release boosts nationwide curiosity
The delay increased anticipation among Indian audiences, especially in North India, where the Hindi version was a huge hit in theatres, pushing the film’s total collection to over Rs 815 crore.Despite this support, the fact that the Hindi version did not reach OTT on time disappointed many. But as per the rules of Multiplex Association of India, the Hindi version is now available on OTT after 8 weeks. At that time, the film’s mythical world, jungle, spirituality, and scenes of blood and fire sparked great controversy among the audience.
The legendary tale explores the Battle of Permi
The story of the film is set against the backdrop of the Kadamba tradition. Faced with the criminal intentions of the evil king and princess who tried to rule the forests, the central point of the story is the struggle of the young hero Permi to protect the forest gods Banchoroli and Kulija.
Through this, the film beautifully conveys the small and big stories about preserving the faith, traditions and livelihood of the forest people.
Actors including Rishabh Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth And Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah brought their characters to life in a powerful way.
