Actress Celina Jaitley has recently made headlines by filing a petition with the Delhi High Court, seeking assistance for her brother, Major Vikrant Jaitley, who has been held in the UAE for 14 months. In a surprising development, Celina also initiated legal proceedings against her husband, Peter Haag, an Austrian hotelier and businessman, accusing him of domestic violence.
Under the Domestic Violence Act, Haag faces charges of cruelty, manipulation, and physical abuse.
Following the filing of her petition, a court in Mumbai issued a formal notice to Haag, who is still awaiting further details about the allegations and the schedule of upcoming hearings.
Celina recalls her brother’s last call and made an emotional appeal for his return.
The petition claims that the 47-year-old mother of three was subjected to ongoing acts of domestic violence by her husband. According to the Times of India, Celina is seeking monthly compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a total of Rs 50 crore. She also requests a custody order allowing her “unhindered virtual and telephone access to the children.” The application notes that the couple married on September 18, 2010, and have three children together.
Celina alleges that her husband gradually took over her career and financial affairs.
The petition states that after marriage, she worked intermittently until giving birth to the children, after which her husband prevented her from working under various excuses and took away her financial independence and dignity.
The petition, filed on November 21, 2025, labels Celina as an “aggrieved person” under Section 2(a) of the Domestic Violence Prevention Act.
The document describes Peter as a “narcissistic and self-absorbed” individual who shows no compassion for his wife or children. It further notes that his behavior is worsened by his short temper and alcoholism. Celina also claims he engaged in financial misconduct, systematically undermining her character and manipulating her into giving him control of her assets and money.
She alleges that he exploited her during a period of severe depression following the death of her newborn and her parents within a few months of each other, pressuring her to transfer ownership of her Mumbai residence to his name.
The complaint states that the “severe emotional, physical, verbal, and financial abuse” became so intolerable that she had to flee the family home in Austria in the middle of the night and return to India, leaving her children behind. Celina claims Peter regularly used racist and insulting language, calling her his “maid” and saying people might mistake her for someone who helps. According to the petition, this constant humiliation caused her immense psychological distress and a gradual loss of self-esteem.
In addition, a separate civil suit is pending in the Bombay City Civil Court regarding the cancellation of a gift deed dated January 14, 2019, through which the joint house was transferred to Peter.
The case is currently waiting for its final hearing and resolution.
Celina and Haag married in Austria in 2011 and had twins in March 2012.
Their family grew again in 2017 with the arrival of another set of twins, although tragedy struck when one of the infants died from heart hypoplasia. Known for her roles in films like “No Entry,” “Golmaal Returns,” “Thank You,” “Apna Sapna Money Money,” and “Money Hai Toh Honey Hai,” Celina has largely avoided the public eye in recent years, mostly appearing in the news for significant personal events.
Her brother was affiliated with MATITI Group, a consulting, trading, and risk management company.
Celina alleges that the Ministry of External Affairs has not provided her family with basic information about her brother’s “condition, legal status, or well-being” since his detention was reported in September 2024. Upon her request, the Delhi court directed authorities to ensure communication between her brother, Celina, and his wife.
