Yo Yo Honey Singh opened up about his long battle with drug addiction, revealing that although he quit drugs in 2014, the physical and emotional recovery took him eight difficult years. He said the experience nearly destroyed his life and career, motivating him now to warn young people about the dangers of substance abuse.

Singh said he wants his story to serve as a cautionary message for fans, explaining that addiction slowly harms the body and mind in ways that remain hidden until major damage is already done.

Honey Singh drug addiction journey and early struggle

Honey Singh, one of Bollywood’s most influential rapper-singers, spoke emotionally about the period when drug addiction, alcohol dependence, depression and mental health issues overtook his life. In a recent interview, the artist — whose rise to fame was marked by blockbuster hits and massive fandom — described this phase as the lowest point of his career.

“Drugs destroy you slowly, without you even realizing it,” Singh said in the NDTV interview. The rapper explained that addiction entered his life during his peak success years, gradually pulling him away from music, family, and daily routine.

Honey Singh said he finally quit drugs in 2014 after doctors told him he was seriously unwell and needed treatment immediately. But the effects of addiction lingered far longer than he expected.

“I quit drugs around 2014 when doctors diagnosed me and said I was sick. But even then, it took me eight years to recover,” he said. “It did not leave my system. I would never want anyone, not even an enemy, to go through what I went through.”

His confession highlights the heavy toll addiction takes on physical health, neurological balance, and mental well-being. Singh said he lost confidence, clarity, and the ability to create music — elements that once defined his career.

Yo Yo Honey Singh interview reveals impact on personal life

In the candid interview, Singh said his earlier lifestyle — marked by fame, pressure and excess — contributed heavily to his downward spiral. He admitted that at one point he “lost himself to fame, money and women,” describing the phase as dangerous and self-destructive.

Speaking earlier to Lallantop, he said, “Drugs completely destroyed me. I was like a devil, completely devilish.” The rapper described moments of deep isolation, fear and confusion, saying his mind became unstable and everyday functioning turned difficult.

This period also brought severe Honey Singh depression, anxiety, and an extended break from the industry. While rumors circulated about his disappearance, Singh later clarified that he was battling multiple health issues, including mental health collapse caused by substance abuse.

Despite the painful reflection, Singh said he now feels calmer and more aware after emerging from years of inner turmoil. “What goes around comes around, I really believe that,” he said. “It took a lot of time for me to get out of where I was stuck. But now I’m back.”

Honey Singh recovery and life after leaving drugs

Singh said that the eight-year recovery from addiction was slow and exhausting. He described the healing period as a process of rebuilding his mind and body, staying away from negative influences, and learning to live a more disciplined lifestyle.

The rapper said he returned to music only when he felt mentally strong enough to re-enter the industry. Since his comeback, Honey Singh has been more vocal about mental health awareness, therapy and the importance of recognizing early symptoms of breakdown.

He now uses interviews and public platforms to urge young people to stay away from drugs and alcohol. The rapper emphasized that early experimentation can turn into long-term dependence without warning, and the recovery process can cost years of life, health and career.

Yo Yo Honey Singh comeback, world tour and new music

With his health restored, Singh is preparing for one of the biggest phases of his career. The rapper announced a global comeback tour, with the first international performance scheduled in Dubai. The event marks his return to large-scale live shows after a long absence.

Singh is also gearing up for a multi-city Indian tour across eleven cities, where he will perform his hits and introduce new tracks. Fans have shown strong anticipation, celebrating his return after nearly a decade of personal battles.

During the interview, Singh revealed interesting insights into his music-making process. When asked which song he wrote the fastest, he mentioned “High Mera Dil,” saying he penned it in just five or six minutes. “I just delivered whatever came. Even today, when we do it, people connect instantly.”

With a renewed mindset, Singh said he wants to create music that reflects growth and maturity rather than the chaotic lifestyle he once lived.

The message behind Honey Singh’s warning to youth

Singh’s major focus now is spreading awareness about addiction among the youth. He repeatedly emphasized that drugs can cause irreversible harm, affecting not just health but also dreams, relationships and long-term stability.

He said many young fans often see the glamour in fame but not the cost behind the scenes. By sharing his own failures openly, Singh hopes to become a lesson rather than an example to follow blindly.

“I tell all my younger brothers and sisters: stay away from drugs. They harm you slowly, and you don’t even realize it. I never want anyone to face what I faced,” he said.

Singh’s honesty is being praised by mental health advocates, who say such admissions from celebrities help reduce stigma and encourage early intervention.

Why Honey Singh’s story matters in today’s drug culture

India has seen a rise in substance abuse among young people, influenced by social pressure, nightlife culture, and easy availability. Honey Singh’s story resonates deeply because it reflects how quickly addiction can overtake even those at the height of success.

His personal account connects with thousands who admired him during his early rise in Bollywood. Now, by discussing the darker side of fame, Singh offers a more complete picture of an artist’s life behind the camera.

Experts say stories like his bring visibility to topics such as:

• mental health awareness
• rehabilitation and recovery
• celebrity pressure
• long-term substance effects
• responsible fan culture
